Today started out with great excitement. Today was the day we were finally getting a new car!!! The car we had purchased was in Maryland so we caught a ride with the Brady's, who were on their way to Philly for the day. We saw the car and it was gorgeous- seriously perfect. I was so excited i couldn't believe it. We threw Libby's carseat in and I slid into my new heated leather seats. I kept looking around the car in amazement. It felt as though we had upgraded from a car to a spaceship.
This wonder and awe lasted about ten miles when, at this point, the car completely died. No,I am not joking ! The transmission totally gave up. The car wouldn't move forward. I held back rage and tears and we started making phone calls while the entire world honked at us.
We finally got the car to a mechanic, and it had to be the most sketchy place I have ever been. After 4 1/2 hours of sitting in the shop we finally went next door to get some food. The place was a soul food kitchen called " Henry's Soul Cafe" we got three chicken wings and some corn bread to share. We finally got a tow truck to take the car back to Baltimore which meant we were free to finally go home...... But oh wait we didn't have a car.
So in the freezing cold , with our daughter, a carseat and all our possessions we walked at least a mile to the Metro. When I finally sat down on the metro tears just streamed from my eyes. I was exhausted, defeated and furious. We rode the metro to the airport and then walked from there all the way back to the car rental place to get a car so we could get home. Which was another mile walk with a giant carseat in one arm and a thirty pound child on my hip. We were lucky we had brought a blanket to put under the carseat because it was freezing outside and we were not dressed for it.
By the time we got home it was 6:00pm and we had left home at 10:00 that morning. It was a long horrible day - and now we have to start all over. Maybe we just aren't suppose to have a car right now.....
